With a few simple tricks you can move, assign, and complete tasks in bulk!
How to bulk assign or reassign tasks
To get started, sort your project by owner. You can do this in the top right of the project view by clicking the sort by dropdown and selecting sort by owner. Make sure the person you’re reassigning the tasks to is listed, if not you’ll need to manually assign one task to them first so that a section for their tasks will appear.
Now use shift+click to select a range of tasks. This will select all tasks between the top and bottom one you select. You can also command/ control + click to individually select tasks. Click and drag those tasks under the new assignee and release. These tasks have now been reassigned to the new owner!
You can also use this to unassign tasks in bulk. The same steps apply: just drag them under the “Unassigned” section header. Make sure at least one task is unassigned so an unassigned section will show up when sorting by owner. Now select the tasks you’d like to unassign, then drag and drop. Like magic, your selected tasks are now unassigned.
How to change task due dates in bulk
First, sort your project by due date. If there isn’t a section for the date you’d like to move tasks to, manually change the date of one task so the date will appear. Now use command/control+click to individually select the tasks you want to move. You can also use range selection by using shift+click on the first and last task you’d like to move; this will select all tasks between them. Once you have all the tasks selected, drag and drop to the new due date.
This also works if you need to remove the due date, follow the same steps but instead drag and drop them to the ‘no due date’ section at the bottom of your project. This will remove the due date from those tasks.
Moving tasks between sections
If you need to change the status of multiple tasks at once, like moving tasks from the “Needs Review” section to the “Done” section, the same steps apply. Use shift+click to range select your tasks, or command/ control+click to select multiple individual tasks at once. Then drag and drop those tasks between sections. This will work in both list and column view.
Moving completed tasks back to the active project
If you’ve accidentally completed some tasks, or just realize they need more work, you might need to remark them as incomplete. Go to the completed tasks page by clicking the icon in the bottom left hand corner of your project. Use the same trick as above, either shift+click to range select tasks, or command/control+click to select multiple individual tasks. Then use the keyboard shortcut shift+c to toggle their status from complete to incomplete. This will move them back to the active project, into the last section they were in before completion.
